LIFE & ACCIDENTAL DEATH &
DISMEMBERMENT
We all recognize the importance of
life insurance. After all, we want to make
sure that our loved ones are taken care of when we
die. This makes life insurance one of the
most important benefits you can offer your
employees. Oftentimes it is offered along
with Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)
insurance, which is a rider on a basic life or
health insurance policy. Such coverage has
become so popular that employees perceive it to be
an essential part of their benefits package and
offering it helps employers stay
competitive. Coverage amounts vary
greatly. We can help you pick the best plan
to put your employees' minds at ease while staying
within your budget.

DISABILITY
Disability insurance provides your
employees with an income so they can support
themselves, their families and pay their bills
while recovering from an accident or illness that
keeps them from returning to work for more than a
few days.
There are two basic types
of disability insurance:
Short-term, which
typically lasts up to 6 months and pays up to 60%
of the previous salary and
Long-term, which usually
picks up where short-term disability policies
leave off. It can provide some form of
income protection for several years or until
retirement.
A wide variety of such
policies are available in the market place. They
can totally be tailored to your group’s needs and
budget and can even be adjusted to reflect
different classes (such as seniority, job type,
etc.) within your company. We can help make
sense of it all and then come up with plans that
reflect your company’s unique needs.

VISION
Vision insurance provides coverage
for services rendered by eye care professionals
such as ophthalmologists and optometrists.
The typical vision insurance plan provides yearly
coverage for eye examinations and some form of
coverage for eyeglasses and contact lenses,
etc. Like dental coverage such plans can be
stand alone or add-ons to your basic health
insurance plans. Healthy eyes and vision
help prevent accidents on and off the job – think
about it!

LONG TERM CARE
More Americans live longer lives than ever
before in our history. While that’s
essentially a good thing, it does come with a
price: the longer people live the higher the
likelihood that they will need nursing home care
or home health care. The financial burden
for such care can be staggering. That’s
where a good long-term care insurance plan can
provide considerable peace of mind. As
usual, there are a wide variety of plans available
and we are here to help you figure it all
out. Ask us if your plan can be tax
deductable.

VOLUNTARY INSURANCE PLANS
As the cost of healthcare benefits continues to
escalate, Voluntary Benefit programs have become
increasingly popular among employers and
employees. These programs offer employees an
attractive menu of additional benefits with no
hard dollar costs to the company. Several of
the aforementioned group insurance plans can also
be offered on a voluntary basis, such as dental
insurance, life insurance, disability insurance,
cancer insurance, medical bridge and long term
care insurance.

CAFETERIA PLANS
Established by Congress in 1978 under Section
125 of the Internal Revenue Code, these plans are
also known as “Flex Plans”. The terms
reflect the range of choices the employees have
under such a plan: The employer establishes
a menu of benefits that are available to their
employees under the plan and how much they will
contribute in total to those choices. The
employees then get to choose in which of the
offered benefits they wish to participate.
The main advantage of these plans is that they
may be administered on a pre-tax basis, meaning
all federal and state taxes, etc. are figured
AFTER the premiums for the benefits have been
deducted from the employee’s pay, thusly providing
savings for both the employer and employee.
Let the experts at American Benefits Planning,
Inc. show you how these plans can be advantageous
to your company and employees.

FLEX ACCOUNTS
Meant to help employees with health
care and dependent care costs that are not covered
by insurance, companies may choose between three
major types of flex accounts: Flexible
Spending Accounts (FSA), Health Savings Accounts
(HSA) and Health Reimbursement Accounts
(HRA). If your company does not offer one of
those plans yet, consider setting one up and if
you do have one already be sure to re-evaluate it
periodically to assure it is properly
funded.
Most of these plans offer
significant tax savings for both employer and
employee, but oftentimes especially small
businesses shy away from them because they don’t
fully understand all the details and don’t have
the time to check into them. That’s where we
come in. We continuously stay educated on
the latest product developments and changes in the
law and stand ready to efficiently evaluate your
needs and wishes and then provide you with the
advantages and shortcomings of each type of
account as they apply to your company. Then,
once you’ve decided what type of account to go
with, we’ll assist you throughout the set-up
process and remain by your side after it’s all
done, so you can stay focused on what you do best:
running your business.

HEALTH CARE
Insurance providers offer a broad
range of health plans at varying costs, levels of
health coverage, and accessibility to health

will be in terms of premiums and/or levels of
health care coverage. At American Benefits
Planning, Inc. our experts will listen carefully
to your needs and goals and then shop the market
to present you with the best possible options in a
clear and easy to understand way. Once we've
reviewed the pros and cons of your best options
with you, the decision is yours. We're confident
you won't find a better solution from anyone
else. There is never any obligation or
pressure to buy.
The following are types
of health plans we can make available to you.

LIFE & ACCIDENTAL DEATH &
DISMEMBERMENT
We all recognize the importance of
life insurance. After all, we want to make
sure that our loved ones are taken care of when we
die or we simply want to have life insurance as a
nest egg. Sometimes the perception is that
obtaining life insurance is hard, particularly if
you are not young and super healthy. That’s
where an independent agency can make a real
difference. We have market experience and
know the products. After assessing your
individual situation we can show you the options
that best address your needs and future plans
while keeping your budget in mind. We can
also discuss with you the viability of Accidental
Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance,
which can be added as a rider on a basic life or
health insurance policy. By the way, we are
also great at holding your hand through the forms
process….

DISABILITY
Many people think they will be
covered by “the system” should they become too ill
or injured to return to work for more than a few
days. They think of Workers’ Comp and Social
Security as their safety net. The sad truth
is that the qualifying process for disability
claims through Workers’ Comp or Social Security is
stringent and time consuming and not always
successful. To help cover your day to day
expenses and mortgage and rent payments you should
have a “Plan B” in the form of individual
disability insurance. There are two basic
types of disability insurance:
Short-term, which
typically lasts up to 6 months and pays between 60
and 80% of your previous salary and
Long-term, which usually
picks up where short-term disability policies
leave off. It can provide some form of
income protection for several years or until
retirement.
A wide variety of such
policies are available in the market place. They
can totally be tailored to your needs and budget
and can even be adjusted from year to year to
reflect changes in your lifestyle and/or
income. Let us help you make sense of it all
before you choose those plans that will provide
you with the most peace of mind.

MEDICARE
Medicare is a
government sponsored program to provide affordable
healthcare to people 65 or older or people under
age 65 with certain disabilities. You will
have heard of Part A, B, C and D. Parts A
& B are hospital and medical coverages that
are provided directly by the
Medicare program. Parts C
(hospital and medical coverage) and Part D
(prescription drug coverage) are provided by
private insurance companies specifically approved
to provide this type of coverage. And then
there is Medigap, which is a
supplemental private coverage you can get to fill
in gaps in the coverage provided by Parts A &
B.
Confused yet? We are here to
help guide you through the maze of what’s
available and most beneficial to you. Our
resident expert for Medicare and
Medigap products knows all the
ins and outs along with a few shortcuts and once
you’ve talked with him, you’ll know you are in
great hands and will confidently pick the most
advantageous plan for this stage in your life.
